A single conversation across the table with a wise person is worth a month’s study of books!
A wise and trusted counsellor is also known as a coach or a mentor.
Why do you need a mentor to achieve great success?
- A mentor can give you perspective. Often we are caught up in the emotions of the situation– the fear, the excitement, the wonder, the anxiety etc. Mentor is detached and can give you the wisdom of a lifetime of experience.
- A mentor can give you proficiency. A mentor fills in the gaps of our ignorance. Mentor helps you avoid the school of hard knocks.
- Mentor gives you patience. In learning any new skill, there is a learning curve. He can teach you patience as you struggle through failure to achieve mastery.
Remember, there is no synergy on your own. It takes at least two. Almost all super successful people have mentors. They recognise the need to have a mentor. You are only as powerful as your mentors.
